Another part was the name "Wyndham", in which we had a good experience with back in the The hotel itself is not a brand new hotel. It has been around maybe for ten years. The hotel is well-maintained, though the interior is an old style one with carpet from wall to wall and a dim ambience. The reception lobby, the floor lobby and the room are spacious, however Tangerine Restaurant has a rather limited space and hence a limited choice of foods and drinks for breakfast. The taste was so-so but the services were responsive and courteous. One thing I found somewhat disturbing with the reception lobby the light was turned off when we came back dinner outside the hotel at around 10PM. So the lobby was unusually dark. Turning off the light at the lobby is not a common practice elsewhere. My room was on the 22nd floor with a city view. The corridor leading to my room has a standard width. Going inside my spacious room, I found amenities commonly found in the hotel room, with the exception of the existence of two chairs one for work and one for relax; usually only one of them and one working desk, the existence of shower area and a bathtub usually only one of them, and the small size of television mounted on the wall. All amenities, including internet connection and AC, worked well. I also had a chance to use the fitness center. It is spacious too, and the equipments are plenty and still functioned well. Overall, I enjoyed my stay for these two reasons its location and facilities. Very dated rooms, stains on the walls, bathroom shower was leaking, room felt musty. We picked this hotel based on Google reviews that are far too generous for a supposed 5 star hotel. Fortunately we only needed to stay 1 night. As part of our room rate, we had executive lounge access, however the 25th floor lounge was closed during our visit no explanation offered. As compensation, the hotel staff offered tea and coffee in the lobby area, but we're still not clear what happened. I am up because apparently the ACs in this hotel are centralised and set to a fixed tempertature in all rooms. I was allotted room 2625 before and the temperature would not go below 26C, even when I set it to 22. They sent someone on complaining who instead of rectifying is explaining me how to operate the controls. They then moved me to room 1923. The duty manager at that time tells me that because our ACs are centralised, it takes a lot of time for the temerature in a room to come to your desired temeprature and so you must set it to the minimum 10C. Like really????? I have now set the temperature to 14C and still the ACs are operating at 26. I feel like a fool staying in this hotel. Secondly any five star hotel has number of types of pillows. Here they have just one single fixed type of pillow, which is pretty thick and strains your neck. I was in Semarang before this where I stayed at Gumaya tower hotel with amazing comfort in every way. I am here for work, and the night seems pretty much screwed. For example, stains from leaking water from hallway to room, room was a bit dark with lighting yellow color should changed to white, hallway to room is dark, the food choice for a kid was limited too many spicy food, the parking place somehow can't meet all hotel visitors when hotel in full, need more lighting in some areas. Room was spacious as it Junior Suite, welcome amenities was good I got Praline Chocolate, the WIFI connection was not so bad but sometimes I need to turn it on/off because seems it was lagging. I did enjoy room and sleep well also they provide a package of mask and handsanitizer for guest when check in. Few things need to improve I hope for my next stay 1. WIFI connection 2. I feel a bit itchy with the sheet maybe need to make sure it was clean enough. My room was dirty when i entered , i guess they never vacuum it. Dirts from previous guest are still around the carpet peanuts & oranges. The linen is so dirty with lots of dark marks around. Even a 3 star hotel had lesser stains. The hospitality of the staff are ok. But i wonder why they had the staff housekeeping knocking on every morning at 8-9am asking if we need to clean our room. It's quite annoying though!
